Sparks didn't exactly fly the first time Jennifer Lopez met Casper Smart — but that doesn't mean they're not the real deal.

In a Tuesday interview with Good Morning America, Smart opened up for the first time about his love of almost one year. (Lopez and Smart first stepped out together last fall, just a few months after Lopez had separated from Marc Anthony, her husband of seven years).

When asked if Smart, 25, had experienced "love at first sight" with the "Dance Again" singer, he said that wasn't exactly their experience.

"I don't think it was [love at first sight] for either of us," Smart — who is currently working as the chief choreographer on Lopez's world tour with Enrique Iglesias — shared. "It was just very natural how it happened. There was nothing before, no flirting, nothing."

So how has it been working so closely with his girlfriend?

"Sometimes I tell her something, give her notes," the dancer shared. "But at the end of the day, you know, it doesn't matter what position is what, because she's the boss, you know?"

Lopez, for her part, wouldn't talk specifically about her attraction to Smart during her portion of the sit-down, though she did admit — three marriages later — she's still completely open to the idea of exchanging vows with a significant other.

"Yes, for me the biggest dream is the fairytale," the former American Idol judge explained. "I will never give up on that dream."

Added Lopez, "It can be difficult for anybody who has to stand by my side, but at the end of the day I know that I deserve that."

Last month, the pop star took to her website to deny reports she and Smart had plans to make it official.

"Rumors!!! Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got," the mom to twins Max and Emme, 4, wrote, referring to a diamond sparkler she had been photographed wearing.

Still, she's been singing a different tune to her friends, sources told Us Weekly this spring.

"She's telling friends she wants to marry Casper," one confidante revealed. "She's certain she wants to be with Casper forever."
