A ray of hope for Arnold and Maria?
Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't afraid to mention the elephant in the room during a public appearance in L.A. at Tuesday night's 63rd Israel Independence Day Celebration.
A day after he and Maria Shriver announced an amicable separation after 25 years, the politician and Hollywood star offered a few remarks.
"I want to take a moment and thank our many friends and family for the tremendous amount of support and love that you have given us in the last 24 hours," Schwarzenegger, 63, told the crowd.
"I just spoke to Maria an hour ago before I came her. We both were saying the same thing – we're extremely blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people, by so many wonderful friends."
Although Shriver, 55, has recently moved out of the gated estate they shared in L.A.'s Brentwood area, the estranged spouses remain on good terms — spending Mother's Day together with kids Katherine, 21, Christina, 19, Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13.
"We both love each other very much," Schwarzenegger added. "We're very fortunate to have four extraordinary children. And we're taking it one day at a time. The bottom line is we want to thank all the people for their great, great support."
