Bachelor Jake Pavelka isn't exactly torn up about his split from Vienna Girardi.

"You know what, being single sometimes isn't a bad thing. It gives you time to worry about you and work on yourself," Pavelka, 32, told UsMagazine.com at the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event in L.A. Saturday.

Pavelka calls his June split from Girardi after just five months of dating "disappointing at first…but I've been taking advantage of being single. It's been really nice to kind of slow down a little."

So what is he looking for in a woman now that he's back on the market?

"I like blondes, brunettes, redheads or any combination," he jokes to Us.

Growing more serious, Pavelka adds, "I'm just looking for a sweetheart. That's the biggest thing. I'm looking for a girl that has a really big heart." (Girardi infamously taunted the other women on The Bachelor.)

Pavelka also cheers on Ali Fedotowsky's engagement to Roberto Martinez.

"It seemed like Ali did exactly what she needed to do. She went in there, had a lot of fun, broke a lot of hearts — good for her — and then followed her heart in the end," says Pavelka. "And the most important thing you can do on The Bachelor is to follow your heart and have fun along the way."

Fedotowsky quit The Bachelor for her job as a Facebook exec, but then resigned from her job to appear on The Bachelorette. Reasons Pavelka, "Work will always be there. Love won't. So, I think she did what she needed to do."

He appears on Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva on Aug. 22 — and hopes to continue acting. He's even hired an acting coach, Ivana Chubbuck.

"I've been working on a couple of different projects… I've just been getting in there and paying my dues as an actor. It's a good class," he tells Us.
