Anne Hathaway: My Boyfriend Is “Mellow,” Less “Exhausting” Than Exes

No more drama for Anne Hathaway — in her offscreen personal life, at least.

After ending a four-year relationship with Raffaello Follieri amidst his shocking fraud scandal in mid-2008, the actress, now 28, soon rebounded with a much more low-key guy: actor Adam Shulman.

"So far, it's worked out great," Hathaway says in the new issue of Harper's Bazaar, noting that she used to get hooked on more intense romantic dealings.

"Which has its wonderful side, of course…but also it was exhausting, and sometimes it would freak me out. Mellow doesn't always make for a good story, but it makes for a good life."

Follieri pled guilty in October 2008 to defrauding millions of dollars from investors in a shocking scheme in which he posed a real estate consultant for the Vatican.

Another controversial guy from Hathaway's more recent past: James Franco, her co-host at the 2011 Oscars, where the pair were widely panned for their performance.

Franco later called Hathaway a "Tasmanian devil," but she took the dig in stride.

"I let James know that a whirling dervish is a more flattering comparison than a Tasmanian devil. I called him, and we e-mailed a bit," she explained.

"In the grand scheme of things, I got to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," she mused of the gig. "I met great people, wore beautiful clothes. And I got to put on a show. I don't see a downside. Anyone who disliked my personality probably disliked my personality before the Oscars."
