It was Kanye West's time to get dissed at Sunday's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
West closed out the VMAs with a much-anticipated performance — a year after he notoriously bum-rushed the stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.
Although it wasn't audible on the show's telecast, an insider at the Nokia Theater tells UsMagazine.com that "the audience began booing" soon after West's performance began.
Show runners quickly defused the situation by ushering a crowd of friendlier fans to drown out the boos with cheers. Indeed, by the end of the number, the crowd could be heard chanting "Kanye! Kanye! Kanye!"
A miffed source close to the rapper told Us the nasty fans were "disgraceful!"
Singing new song "Runaway" at the show, West didn't reference the infamous Swift incident by name, but seemed to nod toward his bad behavior.
"Let's have a toast for the douchebags," he rapped. "Let's have a toast for the scum bags. Every one of them I know."
Earlier in the night, a forgiving Swift sang that West was "innocent" and sang "you are not what you did…Every one of us has messed up too…I hope you remember today's never too late…to be friends with you."
