Johnny Depp wasn't really interested in reaching the state of clear or learning about Xenu the intergalactic dictator.
But the actor did learn about Scientology! In the November issue of Vanity Fair, the 48-year-old says before he made it big, he attended Scientology study groups because they paid $3 per meeting.
"I went to a bunch, man," the Pirates of the Caribbean star says. "It was great. It was so fantastic."
But Depp isn't too focused on his bank account. In August, Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio topped Forbes' Highest Paid Actors in 2010 list. Depp brought in $50 million between May 2010 and May 2011.
"Basically, if they're going to pay me the stupid money right now, I'm going to take it," he tells Vanity Fair. "I have to. I mean, it's not for me. Do you know what I mean? At this point, it's for my kids. It's ridiculous, yeah, yeah. But ultimately is it for me? No. No. It's for the kids."
Depp and longtime love Vanessa Paradis have two children: Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, 9.
