Wedding bells are finally ringing for Brangelina—onscreen, at least. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to play a married couple in their new movie, By the Sea, their first onscreen reunion since 2005's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the film on which they fell in love.
A source told THR that the pair will be hitched onscreen, as they were in Mr. & Mrs. Smith almost 10 years ago. Other plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but Universal Pictures chairman Donna Langley confirmed earlier this month that Jolie wrote and will be directing the "intimate, character-driven drama."
"I am very happy to continue my relationship with Donna and the entire Universal team as I finish Unbroken and begin work on By the Sea," the Maleficent actress said in a press release. "They have created a very special place for storytellers, and I look forward to the continued passion and support they have provided to me as a filmmaker."
As previously reported, Jolie and her fiance—who got engaged in 2012 and have six kids together—will shoot the movie in Malta, where Pitt previously shot World War Z. "They'll be filming in Mgarr ix-Xini Bay in Gozo," an insider told Us. "The whole family will be staying in Malta for eight weeks, arriving at the end of August."
"It's not a big movie, it's not an action movie," Jolie told Extra earlier this year of the romantic drama. "It's the kind of movie we love but aren't often cast in. It's a very experimental, independent-type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things."
