Tangled-themed birthday parties are officially a thing of the past. These days, Frozen is the hottest Disney princess flick dominating the kids’ party circuit. Celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks — who frequently works with the Kardashians to plan parties — shares decor, food and activity ideas to make your next birthday bash stand out.
THE INVITES
“Your invite sets the tone for the party, which is why incorporating the Frozen theme is a must,” says Sacks, who suggests sending out movie ticket-style invitations (look for free downloadable versions online) to guests. “They are especially perfect if you plan to show the film during the party. Encourage kids to come dressed as their favorite Frozen character, but reserve Elsa for the birthday girl herself!”
THE DECOR
Stick to the movie’s blue and white color scheme, and incorporate wintry accents throughout. “Create some snowflake streamers over the dessert table with cotton balls and set up a fun photo booth with Frozen-themed props for the kids and parents,” Sacks tells Us.
THE FOOD
“To maintain your wintry theme, try using cupcakes to create a giant snowflake display instead of your more traditional sheet cake, or make rice crispy treats dipped in blue sprinkles,” says Sacks. “Snowman-shaped cookies and sandwiches would make the perfect meal and a white hot chocolate bar would really help give the party a winter feel.”
THE ACTIVITIES
So kids can mingle and share their love of Frozen, a sing-along should top the to-do list. To keep the party’s energy high, Sacks suggests slipping a take-home DIY treat into goody bags. “A fabulous party favor would be a DIY snowman candy bar for each guest,” Sacks suggests. “Include marshmallows for the body, pretzels for the arms and smaller candy pieces for the face and buttons. This is a fun activity that kids can do at home with their parents and serves as a tasty treat after the festivities have ended.”
