Seen and Heard: Us Takes You Behind the Scenes at the Oscars

Gwyneth Paltrow, 34, the very picture of sophistication, beamed when she spoke about her form-fitting Zac Posen gown and said it was love at first sight. "I was in New York watching a public access fashion channel and I saw the runway collection and this was part of it, and I thought it was perfect," she said, joking that she bought the sexy number on Ebay. Designer Posen was equally smitten, telling Usmagazine.com: "Gwyneth is a fashion legend, the ultimate movie star. Her gown was romantic, sophisticated and sexy. I've always dreamed of working with her, she is our American Princess."

Al Gore, star of the Best Documentary winner An Inconvenient Truth may have been less sultry, but he was no less popular; fans in the stands yelled down to the former veep, "Run for president!"

Sacha Baron Cohen, 35, heard some encouraging words of his own, which he apparently needed after losing the Best Adapted Screenplay award to The Departed. Entering the lobby of the Kodak Theater, Cohen conferred with Hollywood heavy Harvey Weinstein who told the de-mustached Borat "Don't worry. You win some, you lose some. You'll have more chances." Cohen then got even more homestyle comfort from his mom. Cohen's parents found their son in the lobby, hugged and kissed him and told him not to worry about not winning this one. Not only is she a super-sweet mom for saying that, but we hear she is the No. 4 prostitute in all of Kazakhstan.

After the show, Usmgazine.com ran into Sumner Redstone, CEO of Viacom, who bounced Tom Cruise on his cute little behind this summer. Redstone called an end to Paramount's long relationship with Cruise's production company and publicly called Cruise's couch-jumping behavior 'erratic.' But when we talked to Redstone after the Oscars, he promised to be all sunshine and moonbeams – or at least, not a jerk. Sumner said he'd "love to see" Cruise. Asked what he'd say if he ran into his former cash cow, Sumner said he'd tell Cruise, "'Hello, it is good to see you Tom. You are an old friend,' which he is." We would have loved to have seen what a bruised Cruise would have answered back.
