Jennifer Love Hewitt's recent joke about insuring her breasts for $5 million "was blown out of proportion," the actress explained during a March 18 appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. While promoting the second season of Lifetime's The Client List, the 34-year-old revealed how her talked-about March 8 video interview with USA Today came to be.
"I was doing an interview and somebody said, 'Oh, all of these people are insuring their parts. They were naming off all these different parts. They were like, 'Would you insure the ladies?' And I said, 'No, I'm not going to.' They said, 'Well, how much would you do it for if you did?'" Hewitt recalled. "So, I just threw out a number trying to get them to move on, and the next thing you know, my brother's calling me and he's like, 'You're doing what?'"
When host Jimmy Kimmel asked Hewitt if the $5 million would cover just one breast or "the set," she laughed and replied, "I don't know! I didn't mean it!"
During her USA Today interview, the TV star said she's the polar opposite of her character Riley Parks, who makes ends meet by servicing men at a spa called The Rub. "I've cut down on the lingerie in my own life because I wear it all the time. So, it's like I don't want to go home and even think about another cute bra and panties set. I'm over it!" Hewitt said. "I'm a soft, cozy T-shirt or tank top and big baggy sweatpants girl."
