Love and Theft's Eric Gunderson is getting the son he always wanted!
In November, the country star and his wife, Emily Hagar, announced that they were expecting their first child — and though both said the most important thing was that the baby was healthy, Gunderson couldn't resist adding that he hoped their little bundle of joy would be a boy. And it is!
The couple, who married in April 2010, will welcome a son in mid-May, his rep confirms to Us Weekly.
"I'm so excited to have a boy!!" Gunderson, 28, tells Us. "Emily would be happy either way, but I've been secretly planning father/son hunting and fishing trips all along. I might even let him try his hand at guitar, although, you know those musicians are a handful…"
The proud papa-to-be eventually wants a girl, too, but he's thrilled to be having a little boy first.
"Obviously, I'm just hoping for a healthy baby," the "Angel Eyes" singer told Taste of Country in November. "But I was the oldest in my family and I was a boy…I think it was cool for my sister to always have an older brother. I think I'd like to have a boy first and then a little girl, but I'll take whatever I get!"
Gunderson and his Love and Theft bandmate, Stephen Barker Liles — rumored to be the subject of Taylor Swift's song "Hey Stephen" — are currently on tour with singer and new dad Jake Owen, who welcomed a baby of his own with wife Lacey Buchanan on Thanksgiving.
