Matthew McConaughey is fighting to bring his weight back to normal. The actor, who shocked fans when he debuted a much-thinner frame in November 2012, revealed a slightly more familiar silhouette on the set of his upcoming film True Detectives in Louisiana on Friday, Feb. 8.

McConaughey, 43, wore a purple blazer and a pale blue dress shirt stretched taut across his fuller figure, with his wavy hair combed neatly to the side. He also wore a fake detective’s badge on his belt loop.

Perhaps the star’s recent fatherhood can be partially to blame (or thank!) for McConaughey’s weight gain. The Magic Mike star and wife Camila Alves welcomed a third child, baby son Livingston Alves McConaughey, into their growing brood on Dec. 28.

Livingston joins older siblings Levi, 4, and Vida, 3.

In November, McConaughey debuted a nearly 40-pound weight loss for his part as Ron Woodruff, a real-life drug addict in the 1980s, in upcoming film The Dallas Buyer’s Club. The real-life Woodruff contracted HIV and became one of the first-ever AIDS activists.

“I feel fine. I really do,” he told the Daily Beast at the time of his frail appearance. “I got the means to lose the weight in a really healthy way. I’m eating fresh fish. I’m just eating small amounts. I’m not being starved … I’m taking care of myself.”
