How's this for a love triangle? Jason Ritter, who most recently romanced Lauren Graham's character on NBC's Parenthood, will next woo Graham's former TV daughter Alexis Bledel on the Fox pilot Friends and Family.
Graham, 45 — known to many fans as Lorelai Gilmore — played the young, hip mom to Bledel's Rory Gilmore for seven seasons on the now-defunct WB dramedy Gilmore Girls. The series ended in 2007, three years before Graham took on the role of Sarah Braverman on Parenthood, where she and Ritter have been steaming up the screen as an on-again/off-again couple for four seasons.
Speaking to reporters and fans at Parenthood's PaleyFest panel on Thursday, March 7, in Beverly Hills, Calif., the actress opened up about her feelings on losing Ritter to another show — and to Bledel, 31. "Jason has been part of this family for a long time. Every year it has been hard to imagine the possibility of saying bye to him," Graham said.
"I'd feel better if he was sleeping with my TV daughter. Oh wait — he is!" she quipped. Later, she joked, "They always change them for someone younger, don't they!"
Graham admitted that the thought of her Gilmore Girls and Parenthood worlds colliding on TV unnerved her. "It really freaked me out because I have such specific relationships with these people and these characters, and it didn't occur to me that they'd ever meet each other," she explained.
Now that it's happening, though, she thinks there could be potential for more overlap. "Alexis' old love interests from Gilmore Girls should now be Sarah's love interests [on Parenthood]!" she joked.
