Busy Philipps had some very important announcements to make at the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Nominations ceremony Wednesday morning, but the star had already made a bigger, more personal announcement two days earlier: revealing her second pregnancy on Twitter earlier this week.
The Cougar Town actress, 33, took to the social networking site Monday to share a photo of a Clearblue pregnancy test stick that read: "Pregnant."
"So this happened…" she captioned the shot. A rep for the star also confirmed the pregnancy to Us Weekly.
But the idea to blast her pregnancy news to the masses wasn't her own, Philipps told Us Weekly at the nominations ceremony Wednesday. See more photos of the star's bump.
"I talked to my husband about it, and he's infinitely smart and wise in these things and he said, 'Just get off the phone and tweet it right now,'" she told Us.
Philipps, who is already mother to 4-year-old daughter Birdie with husband Marc Silverstein, joked that she wanted to make sure that Birdie didn't find out about her new baby brother or sister from anyone other than mommy and daddy.
"Birdie's excited," she told Us. "She's super excited, and she's been asking for at least a year, 'When's her baby gonna come?' Which is so cute. So now she's really excited, she talks about it every day, she tells everyone that we see."
This time around, however, Philipps admits that pregnancy isn't quite as relaxing.
"It's totally different," she explained. "Your first pregnancy you have nothing to do except sleep and take care of yourself and go to prenatal yoga or whatever."
"Now I have a full-time job, I have a four-year-old, I've got a life that is demanding my attention, so I've gone to prenatal yoga once. It's such a bummer."
But heading into the awards season with a bun in the oven does have its perks, however.
"The good thing about being pregnant is that I don't have to worry about sucking it in or dieting!" she said of walking the red carpet for two. "Lord knows there's no last minute body wraps to lose five pounds. Because what, you're gonna say I look fat? I don't think so!"
