Ride that Sharknado wave to the bank, Tara! Capitalizing on the success of Syfy's Sharknado franchise, Tara Reid has released a new fragrance called Shark by Tara, described on her website as a "light and refreshing perfume perfect for day-to-day wear."
Retailing at just $24.95 on Reid's site, Shark by Tara includes "a plethora of 'lavender' colored flowers," as well as notes of iced mint, violet, lemon, jasmine, tuberose, muguet, amber, and musk. A message in the product description reads: "We hope you all have as much fun wearing it as we did making it!"
Reid starred in both the original Sharknado and its sequel, Sharknado 2: The Second One, which debuted to record-breaking numbers on Wednesday, July 30. According to Syfy, 3.9 million viewers tuned in to the campy flick, making it the network's most-watched original movie ever. (Another sequel, Sharknado 3, is set for summer 2015.)
Speaking about the unexpected success of the franchise with Access Hollywood recently, the American Pie alum, 38, admitted to having some reservations when she initially signed on to the role.
"When I first did it, it was called Dark Skies, so I thought, 'Okay, it's not gonna sound so bad on my resume…it'll be fine,'" Reid explained. "And then, all of a sudden…they're like, 'We're changing the name to Sharknado.' And I said, 'Oh my god. This is it. My career is over.'"
Reid begged the producers to change the name, but they told her to trust them. "It'll work," they said—and it did. "When it became this phenomenon, I was like, 'Are you joking me? Is this really happening?'" the actress said. "Even now, it's Sharknado craziness!"
