Mindy McCready was laid to rest on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Family and friends gathered at Crossroads Baptist Church in her hometown of Fort Myers, Fla. to honor the late country singer.
"It was a very nice, simple service," an eyewitness told E! News. "The whole family was there. [Mindy's mother] Gayle officiated and spoke at the service and I left inspired."
McCready died of an apparent suicide on Feb. 17 at her home in Arkansas. She was 37. Her songs "Wrong Again," "Ten Thousand Angels," "I'm Still Here" and "I'll See You Yesterday," were played before the funeral started.
"They did a good job of celebrating Mindy's life," the eyewitness told E! News. "The most important thing from the service was that there was a time in Mindy's life when she was really happy and she had accomplished her dreams."
McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34 on Jan. 13. The cause of his death is still under investigation, but was initially reported to be from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
She is survived by her 9-month-old son Zayne, whom she welcomed with Wilson, and Zander, 6, from a previous relationship with country singer Billy McKnight.
