Who needs a big awards show when you’ve got Jimmy Kimmel Live? In one of the most memorable late night stunts in recent memory, Matt Damon hijacked pal Jimmy Kimmel‘s show on Thursday Jan. 24. Renaming the ABC smash Jimmy Kimmel Sucks, Damon made sure Kimmel was bound and gagged as he welcomed a staggering roster of A-list guests: Andy Garcia (who replaced Kimmel’s “fired” sidekick Guillermo), Sheryl Crow (the de facto new bandleader), Damon’s BFF Ben Affleck, Nicole Kidman, Gary Oldman, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon, Kimmel’s ex Sarah Silverman and Demi Moore.
“Is it weird to see a person with actual talent host this show?” Damon cracked. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long, long time . . .This is like when I lost my virginity, except this is going to last way longer than one second.”
In one of her first TV appearances in a very long time, 50-year-old Moore was as game as the rest of the celeb guests for the extended skit — first encountering Garcia outside the studio on her bike, and then joining Witherspoon, Adams, Oldman and Kidman on the couch alongside Damon. In a tank top and jeans, she joked about being a dinner guest at Kimmel’s home — where the self-professed gourmet chef served frozen Digiorno pizzas. “I’m really uncomfortable with liars!” Moore said.
Earlier in the evening, Kidman made an equally memorable impression — dissing Kimmel (“He’s not classy . . . he [f***ing] sucks,”) before giving the captive Kimmel a sexy lapdance.
When Kimmel’s ex-girlfriend Silverman sat down, Damon offered: “Is there anything you’d like to say to Jimmy? He’s a captive audience.”
“No, I’m good,” Silverman quipped.
