No white horse for this happily-ever-after! Honey Boo Boo‘s Mama June Shannon and her new husband, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson, rode off into the sunset after their wedding on Sunday, May 5, in a vehicle befitting their colorful backyard nuptials: a bright yellow ATV.
After changing out of her camouflage and orange wedding gown and into a camouflage T-shirt and khaki cropped pants, the bride hopped on the mud-encrusted four-wheeler behind her groom, who wore a matching outfit accessorized by a backwards baseball cap and sunglasses. Hanging from the back of the couple’s unconventional coach was a neon orange “Just Married” sign and several tin cans.
At one point before the pair left the party, their 7-year-old daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, hopped on the front of the ATV. She, too, had changed out of her wedding garb (a ruffled, pink and orange floor-length gown) in favor of more casual attire: a neon pink bathing suit.
In pictures of the newly minted husband and wife on the ATV, Mama June’s wedding ring can be seen on her left hand — along with a fancy nail job. The blushing bride had alternating pink and orange French tips done for the occasion, to match her dress and multicolored bouquet.
The fun-filled Georgia ceremony and reception featured a big barbecue feast and a two-tiered green-frosted cake adorned with plastic trees and mini ATVs. Both events were filmed for the upcoming season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, which returns to TLC on July 17.
On the day of the happy occasion, TMZ released a photo of an invitation for the wedding, which asked guests to refrain from “cell phones, cameras, or outside video taping.” According to the site, guests were also asked to dress accordingly for the event — meaning “full redneck attire.”
Honey Boo Boo’s older sisters, Pumpkin, Chickadee, and Chubbs, were also on hand to celebrate the union between Mama June and Sugar Bear.
