Kevin Ware Leg Injury: Celebs Tweet Support to Louisville Basketball Player After Gruesome Open Fracture

Get well soon, Kevin Ware. After the 20-year-old University of Louisville basketball player suffered a horrific injury Sunday, March 31, fans are reaching out to share their support during his rough road to recovery.

While contesting an outside shot in front of his team's bench, Ware's right leg snapped in a gruesome open fracture. The Louisville guard was take off the court on a stretcher as his teammates and fans cried by his side.

"The bones 6 inches out of his leg and all he's yelling is, 'Win the game, win the game,'" Louisville head coach Rick Pitino recalled after the game (via ABC News). "I've not seen that in my life . . . Pretty special young man."

Louisville did go on to win the NCAA tournament Midwest Region final with a 85-63 victory over Duke. Ware is now recovering at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after undergoing a two-hour surgery to reset his right tibia and insert a rod into his leg, USA Today reports. A picture of Ware resting in his hospital bed while holding the NCAA regional trophy was shared on Instagram by his teammate Peyton Siva.

Since the excruciating injury, celebs have taken to Twitter to share their support and well-wishes to Ware. 

Former quarterback Joe Theismann, who suffered his own horrific leg injury on national television in 1985: "Watching Duke/ Louisville my heart goes out to Kevin Ware."

Rapper Lil Wayne: "May God be with Kevin Ware and his family. Ya in my prayers bro."
