Gerard Butler is back in fighting form.

The Scottish actor, 42, was spotted eating lunch solo while reading a script at Coogies restaurant in Malibu, Calif. Friday. Earlier that day, Butler's rep confirmed to Us Weekly that he had recently finished a three-week stint at the Betty Ford Center and "returned home in good health."

Butler was reportedly being treated for a prescription pill addiction, according to TMZ. The Scottish actor first took painkillers in 2006 while filming 300, "and the problem became exacerbated while filming Of Men and Mavericks when Butler was badly hurt on December 18 during a surfing accident."

According to TMZ, Butler had also "developed issues" relating to cocaine, though they were not the focus of his treatment. The Bounty Hunter actor has also been open about his past problems with alcohol, telling The Red Bulletin: "I used to drink until I couldn't remember anything. I was just mad for it and on a death wish. It was madness."

Butler appeared to be in good spirits Saturday, as an eyewitness spotted the actor bulking up with a personal trainer at Equinox in West Hollywood.
